Prefer the phone? So do we. Everything on this site can be done by phone or in person.

Never touched this before? Perfect. Start here.

If you ever programmed a VCR clock, worked a CB radio, or left a message after the beep, you are overqualified for this page. There is no wrong way to begin, no pop quiz, and no permanent record.

What AI is — and what it isn’t

Your first five minutes

  1. Come to a free class, or visit the library help desk. We’ll have a device ready — you don’t need to own anything or sign up for anything.
  2. Say hello. Really. Type or speak a question the way you’d ask a helpful neighbor over the fence.
  3. Read the answer. It arrives in seconds, in plain English.
  4. Ask a follow-up. “Shorter, please.” “Explain that like I’m new to it.” “What about on a budget?” You can interrupt and change your mind — it never gets sore about it.
  5. Relax. You cannot break it. There’s nothing to rewind, nothing to erase over, and no wrong tape to buy — this isn’t a Betamax-versus-VHS decision. The tools we teach are free.

Try saying this

Hello! I’ve never used AI before. Ask me three questions about my week, one at a time, and then help me plan something nice for Saturday.

Notice the trick: you can ask it to interview you. You’re the expert on your life; it’s the eager assistant with the steno pad.

Rather start on the phone?

Call us at (575) 555-0100 and a volunteer will walk through it with you, at your pace — like directory assistance, but friendlier, and nobody’s charging by the minute.
