Fronted by vocalist Ashlie Johnson, Old Dogs New Trick brings a new twist to the stage with soulful renditions of classic blues and in-your-face versions of the well-known and the obscure.  Three veteran musicians provide the backdrop for powerful vocals - from the Elmore James classic 'Sky Is Crying' to a one-off version of 'Paint It Black', ODNT adds their own flavor to the familiar and the favorites.

Ashlie mixes a love for Chicago and Delta Blues with a passion for contemporary music, and even her stoic German classical voice teacher from high school days would be proud of her stage presence and powerful vocals. Her voice is polished from years of performing worldwide with choirs and choruses - with a touch of blues gravel from smoky bars and 120db refrains.

From classic Janis to Winehouse, Lauper, Tunstall and Etheridge - she puts her own style and heart in every song.

Her old man - Ron Johnson, is the oldest of the old dogs, with about 47 years of playing - the last few being the best stage experience yet. Retired from his day job, and playing the music he loves with his daughter - what could be better?  Raised on Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler, his unique finger picking style is the perfect accompaniment to his daughter's voice.

Tyler Johnson (no relation to the other two Johnsons) brings a masterful bass groove to the group, backed by many years of performing with top groups around the state. Ty is what every band needs - that rock solid bottom - and a great sense of humor. Versed in all styles and genres, he's the perfect fit for ODNT's diverse setlist.

Tony Hakenson - an old friend found his way back to ODNT!  Tony played with us a few years ago and comes from a long history with some top Milwaukee bands.  Tony masterfully mixes his hard rock style with the band's wide-ranging song list.  Result? Awesome grooves that are full of surprises.

ODNT in more than just a cover band. They are friends, believe in the music they choose to play, and have a whole lot of fun doing it.  That enjoyment is obvious - and contagious.
